Half Yearly Results Announced

Yesterday Purple posted a comment against one of my blog entries that got me thinking. He’d done a mid year analysis of his affiliate activities, and found that his sales generated (or maybe its commission?) is up by 199% on two major networks and another has seen an increase of over 2000%! Those figures are brilliant to hear as I’m aware he’s been busier this year than ever before, and it’s always good to hear about other peoples success when they make the effort.

Purples effort and reward shows that given a bit of concentration and hard graft, increase can be achieved despite the ‘credit crunch’ no matter what size an affiliate you are :)

In the comments, Purple asked how my stats were shaping up. After a few simple calculations later, I was happy to find that for 7 out of the 8 major networks, my sales for the first 6 months of 2008 have already surpassed my TOTAL for 2007.

My projected 2008 increase is a simple x2 formula and doesn’t take into account Christmas which should hopefully push the increase higher still!

  2006 2007 2008 (till 30 June) Projected Increase
Affiliate Future £20,375 £18,380 £41,292 349.31%

And now for some good news!

Just a quick thankyou!

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for their support regarding my last post. It really does show that this industry has now changed, where anyone who grumbles, gripe or groans are rightly afraid to do so in public. It’s understandable having seen the response I have received from Next!

I also appreciate all the MSN’s from other networks, agencies and merchants who have told me that they fully support my post, but are in a position where they are unable to back or comment on my post. Again this sums up the industry where people are afraid of the consequences of speaking out, even when its for the good of the industry and when they whole heartedly agree. Lets hope this changes – and quickly in order to have our ‘open and transparent’ industry back again!

Now the good news…. Hotel Chocolate

As we all know, March is the time to push Easter Eggs and Hotel Chocolate (CJ Network) have come up trumps! Not only are they running a daily competition over 2 weeks where you can win a range of chocolate goodies, but… wait for it… against the run of play, they are almost doubling their commissions too!

Easter Eggs sell themselves at this time of year as we all know, and it could have been so easy for Hotel Chocolate to reduce commissions or simply leave them at their current levels. However, Hotel Chocolate are showing that they really value their affiliates and the business that the affiliates drive to them, and out of respect have increased standard commission to a massive 12%!

It really is nice to see a merchant NOT taking advantage of affiliates by reducing commissions during different seasons. To reward their affiliates further, is a real turn up for the books and a very positive move. Now I just wish I had got round to developing my Easter themed domain in time in order to enter the competition. Maybe next year!
