All I Want For Christmas Is…

Well I’ve made a Christmas wishlist to help my family who have no idea what on earth I want or need this year. Goes without saying boxers and socks are always welcome, along with a few specifics such as:

However this year, I’ve asked friends & family to send me Kiva vouchers if they’re stuck for ideas. I know some people aren’t happy receiving charity Christmas presents, but right at this very moment, there isn’t a great deal I need. Rather than see friends and family wasting money as they have to buy me a gift, I’d much prefer to give it someone who could use it to make a change in their life for the better.

Since first mentioning Kiva in June 2009, we affiliates have donated over $3,000 and invested in over 100 different projects all over the world ranging from a Barber Shop in Tanzania (no use to me) to a Pub in Uganda (what a surprise for affiliates!).

So who’s in our Kiva group and who can join? Anyone can join, and the more the merrier… To name a few, we’ve got;

I hope in the run up to Christmas, we’ll see more affiliates, merchants and networks join our Kiva group and donate $25, or £15, helping make someone elses life a little more comfortable. It’s only the equivalent to 2 bottles of wine, 3 packs of cigs or 4 beers!

Sony Ericssons Space Hopper Madness

Modern Art? Viral Ad Campaign? Whatever it is, I’m actually find the Sony Ericsson “Hoppers In A Warehouse” quite addictive.

Sony Ericsson have filled a warehouse in London, with one of the classic toys of the 70′s and 80′s – the Space Hopper. They’ve got a bunch of blokes in white uniforms, wandering around pumping the Space Hoppers up every time someone Twitters using #pumpt as a hashtag.

Your TWEET will appear on a projection screen at the back of the warehouse, also shown live on their website, giving everyone their 15 seconds of fame! If that’s not enough, you can send suggestion to @chiefhopper, and if you’re lucky enough, you’re idea may come to life.

No idea what it has to do with Sony Ericsson products but I guess it’s different, its creating a buzz on Twitter and yes, I did end up making my very own Hopper… Watch what’s going on over at SonyEricsson.com

Getting Starkers For Charity

London Nud Tech Calendar Getting Starkers For CharityWith only a few days until the LDNnudetech calendars are officially released in the wild, you best hurry up to secure yours.

The “Nude London Tech Calendar 2010″ is the idea of Milo Yiannopoulos, and aims to support Take Heart India, a youth-run charity focused on IT education projects in India for blind and disabled students.

The Take Heart India charity doesn’t employ anyone, so 100% of proceeds are used by the charity on education projects

It’s such a good cause that I’ve decided to sponsor the Nude London Tech Calendar twice, helping promote two different websites.

If you’re unable to sponsor the calendar, then make sure you purchase it when published. You can then have some of the hottest stars of the London tech scene, right there on your desk, including:

The calendar has attracted a fair bit of publicity, and also a bit controversy, that sadly has detracted from the fact that the underlying idea of LDNNudeTech is to raise money for a very worthy charity. IMO everyone should stop bleating, and instead congratulate all involved whether they took their clothes off or not.

For those of you wondering why I didn’t pose for it? As they weren’t producing an A2 version, I wouldn’t have been able to fit on it. Maybe next year…

Order are still being taken over at Firebox.com

Viva Las Vegas – Affiliate Summit

Fancy a trip to Vegas whilst attending one of the biggest Affiliate Marketing Events of the year?

Well, Affiliate Summit West 2010 is once again taking place in Las Vegas between 17-19 January. The three day conference includes an exhibit hall with affiliate merchants, vendors, and networks, as well as educational sessions covering the latest trends and information from affiliate marketing experts.

Having attend the event in 2007, myself and Kieron decided it was once again time to head over to Vegas to catch up on what’s happening stateside, as well as having a wee bit of fun. After putting the feelers out, we’ve seen a fair amount of interest, and decided to setup groups in both LinkedIn and Facebook.

We all know, going to networking events can sometime be daunting at the best of times, even more so when you’re in Las Vegas. The idea of these groups is to get everyone talking and planning together so we all have a rough idea of where’s best to stay, what events people are thinking of attending and what shows/drinking establishments are most likely to be frequented.
