Lately I’ve been receiving little snippets of information about the forthcoming a4uexpo being held in London on 18th & 19th October. A change to norm, will see it move from ExCeL in the docklands to Hilton Metropole in London’s West–End. It’s hard to believe that this will be the 5th annual a4uexpo – a long cry from the days we used to meet in a pub!

Already sponsorship packages are being snapped up by networks, agencies and merchants and a lot of affiliates are booking early, saving a small fortune with the early bird discounts that are available. Finally, after 11 years in the industry I’m getting to grips with networking events. Not only do I turn up on time, I now attend sessions and hand out more than 1 business card! Thursday saw the launch of A4U’s new intimate events, PerformanceIn Fashion & Beauty where I even found myself making notes!

It’s been a while since I attended a networking event, in the UK anyway, so as usual it was great to catchup for a quick chinwag with usual suspects such as Ma Bailey, Kevchenko, Chris B, Stuart & Carol from POR, Mark & Bruce etc. It was also great opportunity to finally put faces to names of those I’ve been dealing with online for a number of months/years Carla, Fi, Kim & Gill.

The thought of “grubby little people” locked away in their bedrooms banging out some <php #ComplexCode> hardly goes hand in hand with fashion, catwalks and “Spring & Summer Collections”… but that’s exactly what’s due to happen in a weeks time!

On 6th July, at the A4U PerformanceIN Fashion and Beauty conference, affiliates will be rubbing shoulders with Wayne Hemingway. Wayne, co-founder of Red or Dead, will be sharing his story on how to build successful brands and the critical role digital and on-line marketing plays during his keynote at the Hurlingham Club, London.

Sadly I won’t be attending the A4U Expo being held in Munich on 7th & 8th June due to yet another holiday, this time to the country of Vino & Pasta :)

Had I been around, there’s no doubt I would have ventured over to Munich for a few days, and joined over 1000+ other delegates attending some of the 40 conference sessions planned for the 2 day networking event.

Having attended previous A4U Expos’s, they’re essential for both new and established affiliates alike. Providing the opportunity to learn from some of the best speakers on the conference circuit whilst building and improving relationships with networks, agencies and merchants, and not to mention catching up with old friends and the parties!
