post

Over the past few weeks, I’ve seen more and more affiliates posting blog threads where they are advertising advertising space, if that makes sense? Don’t get me wrong, I am all for making money any which way possible after all for some of you Affiliate guys and girls, this is your income, or your company. I also understand and appreciate that sometimes, advertising is a simple way of recouping costs, allowing you provide the industry with much valued information, such as the affiliate podcasts made available on Frasers Blog. I am sure, they take a fair chunk of bandwidth everytime a new one is released!

A number of weeks ago, I thought whether anyone would be interested in advertising on my blog, despite it being brand new. After the initial thought, I forgot about it… until today when a confirmation letter dropped on my door mat.

As many fellow UK Affiliates, Merchants and Networks will remember, in 2006 I took part in a 10k run for Cancer Reserach and managed to raise a massive £2050! I am not keen on asking people for sponsorship every year, and as such have decided to donate the £250 minimum myself. However I then though that maybe people would be interested in sponsoring my blog, and instead of me benefiting from it, I would instead donate any money raised to the charity I am representing - MacMillan Cancer Support

Macmillan Info
_donate

So here’s the plan…
If you would like to sponsor my blog, then please make a donation by clicking on the pig donation button above. Instead of collecting the money myself, and wasting it on beer and curry, all blog sponsorship money raised will go directly to MacMillan Cancer Support via the JustGiving website.

Once the transaction has been processed, drop me an email with details of the link link you’d like detailing anchor text, image etc. Please note, when it comes to images, I’m going to keep them to standard 120 x 60. They will appear at the very top of my blog on the right hand side, and will appear on every page, not just the homepage.

There is no minimum amount of sponsorship nor is there any maximum amount ;) and all links will be in place for 6 months from today, i.e. until 16 August 2007.

About MacMillan
Macmillan Cancer Support improves the lives of people affected by cancer. They provide practical, medical, emotional and financial support and push for better cancer care.

They rely on their supporters for 99% of their income. Without you they couldn’t provide any of their services for people living with cancer. For example:

  • Approximately £2,000 could pay for 9,000 copies of ‘The Cancer Guide’, which provides a whole range of information about cancer, its treatment and care, and lists of helpful organisations.
  • £10,000 could fund our CancerLine for 10 days,. Enabling staff and volunteers to answer calls, emails and letters from cancer patients and their friends and families.
  • £100,000 could pay for a two room palliative care suite in a hospital, ensuring that cancer patients have a comforting and relaxed atmosphere to rest in.
  • Approximately £390,000 could fund a Macmillan nurse for over 2.5 years, providing vital medical, practical and emotional support.

Sponsorship raised through taking part in the BUPA Great Manchester Run will help 1,000s of people affected by cancer and more importantly help the remaining family member cope with life changing circumstances.
